ELEKTRO NOVA: TRANS.INTER.FERENCE 10"  EUR 15

ELEKTRO NOVA 2xCD  EUR15

JAGA JAZZIST: A LIVING ROOM HUSH CD  EUR 15

JAZZKAMMER: ROLEX CD  EUR 10
Incursion Music Review: After the release of their first two albums Timex (on Rune Grammofon,1999) and Hot Action Sexy Karaoke (on Ground Fault, 2000), Jazzkammer members Lasse Marhaug and John Hegre invited a number of artists to remix and rework their material. Rolex is comprised of 14 tracks and features contributions from the likes of Zbigniew Karkowski, Merzbow, Thurston Moore, Francisco López, Reynolds, Pita, R. Sundin and others.
Jazzkammer seems to work on an abstract electronic-noise-static-pulse dynamic, since all of the compositions have at least the traces of this (admittedly vague) common thread. And yet here the similarities stop, as each of the contributions is a distinct sound world, independent of the others and always different than the last. Consider the harsh cutups in Thurston Moore's contribution, or the haunting atmospheres by Reynolds, a quiet ode by López, the subtle frequencies and light touches of Alexander Rishaug's piece, or a child's laughter in the track by Maja S.K. Ratkje. The transitions from piece to piece, and even the transitions within each track, are often sharp and unexpected, which makes for a provoking (if uneasy) listening experience. Yet all of this is not without its rewards. Favourites for me are contributions by Karkowski, Reynolds, Tore Honoré Bøe, TV Pow and López, but I could easily name a few more. Jazzkammer's own contributions are also among the most captivating here. A few of these contributors are new names for me, and their contributions promise possibly great things to come. Be prepared for a thrilling, bumpy ride. [Richard di Santo]

JAZZKAMMER: PANCAKES CD  EUR 10

LASSE MARHAUG: NOTHING BUT SOUND FROM NOW ON CD  EUR 10
"Lasse Marhaug is one of the innovators of the Norwegian noise/experimental scene. Marhaug shares the same background as Merzbow (with whom he has collaborated with) as they are both noise artists who has gone on to produce all their music on powerbooks. The sound of Marhaug has similarities to the Japanese noise scene with Merzbow and Otomo Yoshihide, and to Austria’s Mego label with artist such as Pita and Fennesz. But one can also find references to the beautiful and arctic sounds of Biosphere, Pan Sonic's minimalist techno and to Oval and Microstorias glitch electronics. But Marhaug has his own style. His music is extremely rich on details. Layers of sound slowly reveal themselves
as you listen. The music ranges from open spaces and ambient soundscapes to cut-ups and extreme digital brutalism. His use of blips and clicks often with deep soundscapes in the background, creates a shimmering and swirling sound. Nothing But Sound From Now On is a masterpiece; abstract, captivating and beautiful in a bizarre way."

MONOPOT: TARAN EP CDS  EUR 10
"Taran EP contains 4 tracks, three new ones, and a remix of Sane (from Something is Like Nothing Was) by Kim Hiorthoy. Monopot`s combination of ambient and hypnotic gitars, laidback and jazzy percussion mixed with tasty electronics, creates a melancholic, loaded and tense atmosphere. Delicate, subtle and minimalistic beauty."

MONOPOT: OPTIPESS CD  EUR 15
Luna Kafé© record review: " I've been waiting for this one with excitement. Because the last time I saw Monopot play live I wasn't too convinced. Now it seems they've found an even more low-toned, introvert track, and at first I tend to feel a bit...bored. No, sleepy. The instrumental "Diamant" opens quite OK, and takes us to the spheres Monopot roam. Next song "Aloft" is more like the Sometimes is... stuff. One of their really fascinating, moody moments. "Bomb of Bliss" is delicate, and sounds like a jelly-mud-crawl. Like a slow pop single run on 33 rpm. But. The oh-so-slow feels a bit too much to handle throughout a full album, even though there are some very nice moments. The funniest piece is "Sebastian", an almost translucent 'adaption' of Steve Harley's 70s hit. Excellent. "The Arc and the Beagle" is another track giving you the strong feeling of some slow-mo, weightless flight. And everything is like a motion picture with extremely few frames per second. Monopot tread on thin ice while the surface below their feet slowly starts cracking, but due to their light-toed music, they somehow manage to keep the ice intact. But, as I've mentioned I get this strong urge for finding a bed. They sound like, uh, an unplugged Mogwai on Prozac.
Optipess is a fitting title for this album (well, for Monopot's music in general): the sound of optimistic pessimism. Sadness and deep tristesse, but not without glimpses of blue skies and discreet smiles. Nevertheless, this album is way behind their debut album. Sad but true.

SIR DUPERMAN CD  EUR 15
The debut album from Norwegian super-producer JORGEN TRAEN (aka SIR DUPERMAN), the man behind Duper Studio (home to Kings of Convenience, Royksopp, Jagga Jazzist, and others). An incredible electronic pop performance created out of a wild chaos of sounds and rhythms, via fantastic production skills and an arsenal of machines. Organic, warm and engaging.
